New eats places

Capers & Lemons Italian Restaurant & Market - from the owners of Wilmington's Eclipse Bistro and Hockessin's Dome restaurant - opened today in the Commons at Little Falls, an office development at the corner of Del. 48 (Lancaster Pike) and Centerville Road in Millcreek.

Wow. This place is nice. (Entrance is off Centerville Road.) While I didn't eat there (yet), I did take a stroll through the restaurant , grabbed some menus and plan to return very soon.

STAY TUNED.

The eatery is open Mon.-Sat. from 11 a.m to 1 a.m., and Sundays from noon to 10 p.m.

The dinner menu from Chef Mike O'Hare includes woodstone pizzas (between $11 to $14), spinach ricotta agnolotti ($17), cioppino ($19) and braciole with polenta ($19.)

The gourmet foods market will open in March. Call 256-0524.

And the new Stone Balloon Winehouse, at 115 E. Main Street in Newark, is scheduled to begin pouring glasses of vino on Feb. 23, according to its Web site, stoneballoonwh.com.

The menu includes cheeses and a combination of small, large and "shared" plates such as a pate plate with pate de Champagne, truffle mousse pate, foie gras torchon, whole grain mustard, quince paste, caper berries, pickled onions and toast points.

I had the great pleasure of eating there today for lunch. It was EXCELLENT. Bethany was our server and the service was excellent. The Shrimp Scampi appetizer and the Eggplant appetizer was delicious. I would recommend this place to any and all.

Ate there last week. You have to try the fig and gorgonzola flatbread. It's to die for! Beautiful restaurant, amazingly smooth service for so early in the game. These guys are real pros -- they own Dome and Eclipse. Excellent quality, not expensive and lovely ambiance. Great addition to the area.

While it may be a great restaurant with great food, working under the management for this chain of restaurants (Dome, Eclipse) is horrible. Waitstaff are treated with little respect.

We arrived around 5;30 At Capers and Lemons very busy but they seated us quickly. I ordered the Braciole which was excellent but small portion for the 19 dollars and no vegetable and just a small ring of polenta. Everything is la carte. Our table also had homemade Gnocchi which were good but the sauce tasted like Prego from a jar.My son who is 5 and weighs 40 lbs ordered the Gnocchi and ate everybit but one so that tells you how small the portions were. Service was so so, Not very attentive. The waiter never asked us if we wanted fresh ground pepper or parma cheese. We had to ask and they look at us like we had two heads. How can you eat Italian with out fresh ground pepper and parma cheese. We also had dessert Lemon Sorbet which you would think would be a signature dessert since the name is Capers and Lemons. There was enough sugar in the sorbet for a child to make laps around the restaurant. I have had better at the water ice stand on Union Street in Wilmington. Which I know is Water Ice and not Sorbet but you get the idea.the warm Chocolate Cake was dry and grainy.
I would not rush back to Capers and Lemons any time soon. There are a lot of real Italians in Delaware which know good Italian food and this is not a place to get it.
