Restaurant closings

Always sad to report, but a few local eateries have called it quits, and I hear rumblings that even more closings are coming:

Genelle's Restaurant, 730 N. Market St., Wilmington, a downtown fixture for about 15 years, has turned out the lights. Curry chicken ruled the roost here. Wilfred Freeman, a native of Guyana, opened the eatery in 1994.

The stove's also cold at Smith & Co. Restaurant in Milford, which was built in 2005.

Did you see that the WEDGE is opening on Friday? This newly-named restaurant is on the site of (and with the same owners as) the former Amici's on 896 in Landenberg. Menu looks good and there are some less expensive choices.

I really wish them well. They seem to love what they do. The website has an interesting story about the origin of the new name.

I liked Amici's, but it was way too expensive. We had a 7 foot waiter!

How was he prepared and how did he taste?
