Twelves Grill

It's Friday. And that means Reader Mail. It's coming - I'm still playing catch-up after being off last week - but not until late this afternoon.
Keep the email flowing. You ask. We answer. Every Friday. Send the queries to me at ptalorico@delawareonline.com.
In the meantime, check out my review of Twelves Grill & Cafe, a new BYOB in West Grove, Pa.
The photo above, taken by Jennifer Corbett, shows server Sherry Hess standing in front of the original bank vault which is now the BYOB's coat room.

Had lunch here yesterday. An absolutely charming place to which I will return. The butternut squash soup was wonderful.

I ordered the shaved roast beef sandwich with caramelized onions and horseradish aioli on a kaiser roll. The roll was way too bread-y for the amount of filling, the aioli and Swiss cheese were very skimpy....and the beef was overcooked.

But the dessert was to die for. We split the spiced pumpkin cheesecake and cinnamon ice cream, both made on the premises.

I would try TWELVES again but have a few suggestions:

1--When they bring two big rolls they should bring more than two skimpy pats of butter!

2-- when two customers order coffee, a teeny tiny pitcher of cream (probably less than two tablespoons) is just not enough.

3--some wall decoration is needed to relieve the relentless beige.

Patricia - based on your suggestions, I tried the butternut squash soup (which was yummy) and the lamb, which was cooked beautifully but lacked flavor. Personally my fav lamb is at Domaine, this one just didn't come close. Finished dinner with the carrot cake, which was a perfect ending. I have a few more places to try before I'd go back, but it is a nice addition to that area.
